2009 Season

In this, his first season as the Head Coach of the Indianapolis Colts, Jim Caldwell hasn’t missed a beat and neither has his team. Less than a season removed from Tony Dungy, Caldwell drove his team first place in the AFC South an impressive 14-2 record winning the AFC South Title.

He then took his Colts into the AFC Championship game against Mark Sanchez and the New York Jets and in an action packed game, emerged the victor in a 30-17 shootout. It was their first since 2006.

Just a couple of seasons ago, there was a controversy brewing on just who the best QB in the NFL was. The battle between Payton and Tom Brady, himself a former MVP and the 2007 Male Athlete of the Year, came down to an injury to Brady. Payton ran away with the 2008 MVP Award. This season the answer is very evident as Sporting News Magazine named him the number one player in the NFL for 2009.

2008 Season

The Indianapolis Colts are entering their 57th season in the NFL, with a new stadium and a refreshed team coming off a solid 12-4 record last season. After playing at RCA Dome since moving to Indianapolis, the Colts moved to the brand new Lucas Oil Stadium in the 2008 season. Head Coach Tony Dungy, despite rumors of retirement, has stated that he will return for at least one more season with Pro Bowl QB Peyton Manning still behind the reigns of the team for the eleventh consecutive season. Indianapolis fans are purchasing tickets fast, so they can see whether or not the Colts have what it takes to go all the way to capture the Super Bowl Championship once more this season

About  the Colts

The Indianapolis Colts started their great franchise in Baltimore, Maryland in 1953 as the Baltimore Colts. The Colts got their name from Baltimore's well-known history of horse breeding and racing in that area. After several successful seasons resulting in two Super Bowl appearances and one Super Bowl Championship, the Colts decided to relocate to Indiana when their 1983 first round pick, Hall of Fame QB John Elway, refused to go to Baltimore and was traded to the Denver Broncos. In 1984, the Indianapolis Colts moved from their former home at Memorial Stadium in Baltimore to RCA Dome in Indianapolis, where they still play today. After a disappointing first season in which the team set many ticket selling records, they regained their division title in 1987, going into the playoffs for the first time since their move to Indianapolis. They had amazing success in the 90s into the new millennium with great players like running back Marshall Faulk and quarterback Peyton Manning, with their numerous franchise victories in Indianapolis including thirteen playoff appearances, twelve division titles, six conference championships, and two Super Bowl Championships with their last one in 2006. The Colts are always Super Bowl contenders with their fans flocking out to RCA Dome to purchase tickets to see them play.
